Electric Brixton opened its doors in September 2011, it brought back the life that was previously known as The Fridge and before that, The Ace. The most noticeable difference is the million pound facelift it's been given, where possible back to its original interior features with some twists for the 21st century.
Electric Brixton boasts an amazing stage with unsurpassed sightlines making it the perfect venue for large scale club events, live music, television recording, private parties and special arts events. Across both floors the venue has a capacity of 1,700 for club events and 1,500 for live shows. It is the only mid-range music venue in Brixton which is home to an area with a long-established vibrant music scene, standing alongside many other live music pubs and clubs.
Brixton's multi-floored bar and club the Prince of Wales serves many functions, but its club space and terrace are the jewel in its musical crown. The terrace is arguably the best of any club in London, and summer months see parties take place way up high.
There's a loose funk, house, soul, disco and hip hop ethos to POW's programming, and you'll find selectors like Gilles Peterson, Norman Jay and Derrick Carter spinning party jams on any given weekend. Alongside that, various house and techno legends also make appearances, playing on both the terrace and the inside section of the club, making POW a truly versatile venue.
The Ritzy is a Brixton institution, much loved for its friendly staff and anti-multiplex atmosphere. One of south London’s oldest picture palaces (it originally opened in 1911), today the Ritzy has still got a little of that grandeur. Its five screens are all comfortable and reasonably sized, while the programme strikes the perfect balance between major blockbusters and independent films, plus late-night shows and classics. There are also two bars, one offering a view across Windrush Square and serving slap-up café food, the other tucked upstairs inside the cinema and playing host to an array of club nights and stand-up shows.
Brixton Village and Market Row, the vibrant home of food, goods & community.
